HomSelvareg

Genre: Black Metal
Origin: Italy (2004
)

Homselvareg emerged in 2004 in northern Italy, inspired by the legend of
the Homo Salvadego, a mythological figure from the Alps. In 2005, they
self-produced their first eponymous album in limited quantities. Despite
minimal promotion, it received positive feedback, leading to an official
reissue.

From 2004 to 2010, they mainly performed in Italy, sharing the stage
with notable black metal acts like Shining, The Stone, Otargos, and
Kult. In 2010, they released their second album, “Catastrofe,” which
garnered positive reviews in magazines like Legacy, Terrorizer, and
Grind Zone. After this release, the band unfortunately disbanded.

In 2015, Homselvareg reformed with a partially renewed lineup, including
Gerion (Tumulus Anmatus). In 2018, they released the EP “Rinascita,” and
in 2023, the full-length album “Ventunesimo Secolo,” featuring new
guitarist Vestigian (Vltor, Furor Gallico) and session drummer Jonathan
Garofoli (Naer Mataron, Lost Soul, Azrath-11).

Since 2015, the band has performed with acts like Impaled Nazarene,
Mysticum, Sur Austru, Ad Hominem, and Nocturnal Depression.

On November 23, 2024, to celebrate their twentieth anniversary, the band
released a box set of tape reissues of their first four works with
renewed artwork. The set is wrapped in hand-tattooed real leather and is
limited to 30 copies. The release date coincided with their first live
performance with the new lineup at the Stige Fest, supporting Mysticum
and Cult Of Fire. Also in November, the band released a new single
featuring new bassist Clod the Ripper (Blasphemer, Nel Buio) and
Vellacifer as session drummer (Electrocution, Blasphemer, Nel Buio), now
replaced by new permanent drummer Ferox (For the Storms).

HOMSELVAREG are:

Plague: Vocals
Gerion: Guitar and Backing Vocals
Vestigian: Guitar and Backing Vocals
Ripper: Bass and Backing Vocals
Ferox: Drums

For years, lineup issues limited their performances, but now, with the
current lineup featuring only original member Plague on vocals, they can
play more frequently and expand their audience across Europe and worldwide.
To mark their twentieth anniversary, the band is working on a new album
that will close the cycle of the Homo Salvadego myth, explaining the
common thread of their previous albums and heralding a new manifestation
of the Homselvareg spirit.
